Assistant or Associate Professor of Technical Communication
The Department of Communication, Liberal Arts, Social Sciences (CLASS) at
the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (New Mexico Tech)
invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of
Technical Communication, beginning January or August 2012.
Responsibilities include serving as Technical Communication Program
Director for a well-established Bachelor of Science program in Technical
Communication, implementing communications-related aspects of graduate
curricula for students from a variety of STEM disciplines, and to maintain
an active research program. Teaching load is typically three courses a
semester (possible initial course reduction) and includes Technical
Writing, a general education core curriculum requirement for majors in the
STEM disciplines. Requirements: PhD in Technical or Professional
Communication or closely related field by start date; college-level
teaching experience; evidence of scholarly potential. Preference will be
given to candidates with a research agenda complementary to the mission of
New Mexico Tech and evidence of program development and leadership in
curricular and co-curricular student activities.
